For the second year, the Venice Biennal has decided to relocate Venice Virtual Reality, its festival dedicated to virtual reality, to several countries around the world. In France it’s at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS that you will discover all the immersive works selected for the festival. You will have access to new works presented for the very first time: unique contemplative, interactive, narrative and playful experiences, to escape into other realities.
During 1 hour, discover a selection of works by choosing among 3 typologies:
- Cinematic worksto escape to 360° in original fiction or documentary.
- Immersive works, narrative, contemplative or interactive works to immerse yourself in unique worlds.
- Interactive works to immerse in and interact with unique stories and experiences.
New for the 2021edition:
- FOCUS VR social - experience the most innovative virtual worlds: presentation of metaverses, the best virtual worlds on VRCHAT in free access (permanent and public access) and private access.
- Guided tours of these virtual worlds will take place.
78th Venice International Fim Festival |VENICE VR EXPANDED SATELLITE PROGRAMME
The 78th Venice International Film Festival (VIFF) of La Biennale di Venezia, after the success of the 2020 edition, will once again hold its Venice VR Expanded section online, extending its duration from September 1st to 19th, 2021.
For the second year, La Biennale di Venezia will hold the Venice VR Expanded Satellite Programme, to open up the possibility for global audiences to experience the Venice VR Expanded selection. The Mostra will partner with a number of prestigious institutions around the world, known for exhibiting VR artistic works, and will dedicate one of their public spaces to the Venice VR Expanded exhibition as part of their program from September 1st to 19th 2021, with press previews on the 31st of August.
The VR selected projects will be accessible to the 78th VIFF accredited viewers and to the visitors of the Satellite institutions, through PCVR and Oculus Quest headsets, on the Venice VR Expanded online partner platforms HTC Viveport and Facebook’s Oculus.
The 2021 Venice VR Expanded program will be announced to the press on 28th of July, and will be composed of up to 30 immersive projects in Competition, up to 10 immersive projects in the Best Of section and of a selection of projects developed through the Biennale College Cinema VR program. The social dimension of the section will be available in the Venice VR Expanded world on VRChat designed by VRrOOm
